Everything in your DJI flight record, laid out

A DJI flight record is encrypted, so opening the .txt file in a text editor shows nothing useful. The viewer decodes it and turns it into six views you can read in a minute.

Overview

The flight path on a map with duration, distance, top speed, highest altitude and battery use, plus events such as takeoff, peak altitude and low battery.

Replay

Play the flight back over satellite imagery with live height, speed, heading, battery and satellite readouts, and a timeline of flight modes.

3D view

Follow the drone over 3D terrain, orbit around it, or ride along from the cockpit.

Image studio

Make a clean picture of the flight path for a client report or a post, with your choice of map, angle and info card.

Charts

Altitude, speed, battery and orientation over the whole flight, all moving with one playhead.

Export

Download a PDF flight report, every reading as a spreadsheet for Excel or Google Sheets, or the full processed log.

Where DJI keeps your flight records

DJI Fly and DJI Pilot 2 save one file per flight, named like DJIFlightRecord_2025-08-18_[11-09-04].txt with the date and time of the flight. This is where to find them.

DJI Fly on Android

.txt flight records

Connect the phone to a computer and open Android > data > dji.go.v5 > files > FlightRecord. Newer Android versions hide this folder from file apps on the phone itself, so a computer is the easiest way in.

DJI Fly on iPhone

.txt flight records

Open the Files app and go to On My iPhone > DJI Fly > FlightRecords. You can pick a record straight from there on this page, or share it to your computer.

DJI RC controllers

.txt flight records

Screen controllers such as the DJI RC, RC 2 and RC Pro run DJI Fly themselves. Connect the controller to a computer with a USB cable and open the same Android > data > dji.go.v5 > files > FlightRecord folder.

DJI Pilot 2

.txt flight records

DJI Pilot 2 on the RC Plus and other enterprise controllers keeps a FlightRecord folder of its own, for aircraft such as the Matrice 4, Matrice 350 and Mavic 3 Enterprise.

When a DJI log will not open

The viewer tells you why instead of showing an empty map. These are the usual reasons.

It is from DJI GO 4

Older aircraft flown with DJI GO 4, such as the Phantom 4, Mavic 2 and Inspire 2, write an older record format that DJI’s current decoder cannot read. Records from DJI Fly and DJI Pilot 2 open.

The aircraft never took off

Some records hold no flight at all, for example when the aircraft was switched on but never left the ground.

It is not the original file

A record that was cut short while copying, or saved again by another program, will not decode. Copy it from the FlightRecord folder again.

It is over 50 MB

DJI flight records open up to 50 MB. A normal flight is much smaller than that.

How your DJI log is handled

DJI encrypts its flight records, and only DJI’s official decoder can unlock them. Your file is sent to our server, decoded with that decoder, and scheduled to be deleted automatically after one day. Until then our team may look at it to improve the viewer. Nothing is added to an account.
